Julaton beats Biggers, annexes WBO crown

Julaton hacked out a 10-round unanimous decision victory over veteran Donna "Nature Girl" Biggers of Boiling Springs, South Carolina to add the WBO belt to her International Boxing Association (IBA) 122-lb strap. According to PhilBoxing.Com, a more powerful and conditioned Julaton showed up against Biggers. She fought a technical fight and unleashed non-stop assault to the body and head that wobbled Biggers a few times and opened cuts above the American’s left and right eyes with her wicked jabs. The Bay Area sensation, who credits new coach Lauro Dorolia for her revamped strength and conditioning, won on all judges’ scorecards, 100-90, 99-91, and 99-91, to become the WBO’s first champion in the super bantamweight wars. Largely considered as the “female Manny Pacquiao," the Daly City-based Pinay hiked her win-loss-draw record to 6-1-1 (one knockout) and maintained her position among the Philippines’ world champions. The 29-year-old Julaton is in the esteemed company of WBO welterweight boss Pacquiao, WBA interium super-flyweight king Nonito Donaire, Jr., IBF light-flyweight holder Brian Viloria, WBO minimumweight supremo Donnie Nietes, and WBC light-flyweight titlist Rodel Mayol. Julaton first rose to fame by defeating the more experienced Kelsey Jeffries (41-10-1) via majority decision in their battle for the vacant IBA tiara last September and her succeeding victory over the power-hitting Biggers (19-9-1, 16 KOs) further cemented her status among the hottest properties in the women’s boxing scene today. - GMANews.TV
