South Korea wins bronze in badminton men’s doubles


BEIJING – South Korea's Lee Jae-jin and Hwang Ji-man won the bronze medal in men's doubles at the Olympic badminton tournament Saturday, defeating Denmark's Lars Paaske and Jonas Rasmussen in three sets. Lee and Hwang dropped the first set, but recovered for a 13-21, 21-18, 21-17 win at Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium. The South Koreans were trailing 18-15 in the second game, but scored six straight points to close out the game. After they scored the winning shot, both players knelt down in the center of the court before embracing. It was South Korea's second medal of the badminton tournament. On Friday, Lee Hyo-jung and Lee Kyung-won took the silver in women's doubles. – AP
