Violence mars illegal flea market clearing operation in QC

MANILA, Philippines - Violence marred a clearing operation of a "flea market" in front of the Commonwealth Elementary School in Quezon City as vendors tried to fight off a government clearing team.

Radio dzBB's Mao dela Cruz reported that several vendors threw rocks at the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and Quezon City police operatives involved in the clearing operation.

The incident took place at a portion of Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City, which vendors "converted" into a flea market.

Members of the raiding team seized items sold by the vendors, including food items and school supplies and uniforms. - GMANews.TV
