Wizards' Arenas to visit RP in July

MANILA, Philippines – Gilbert Arenas of the Washington Wizards will visit the Philippines on July 5 for the Adidas Agent Zero Tour 2008. The event will feature the launch of Arenas' new signatures shoes, cage clinics, mall tours, and community events, according a statement issued by event organizers on Tuesday. Arenas was given the moniker Agent Zero because of the No. 0 on his jersey. It was his response to critcs in college, while he was at the University of Arizona, who insisted that he would never be given playing time. Currently, Arenas is on his seventh NBA season following his entry in the league from University of Arizona. He was drafted in 2001 by the Golden State Warriors. Arenas had been picked by the NBA as its Most Improved Player awardee and was named as the Most Valuable Player in the rookies-sophomore game in the 2003 All-Star Weekend. Arenas will be in the Philippines for four days to fully promote adidas' core values of basketball brotherhood and promote Gil II Zero collection, including the Gil Zero shoes and clothing. Arenas will visit Adidas concept stores on July 6. He will be at the Mall of Asia at 11 a.m., the Rockwell store at 2 p.m., and the TriNoma store at 5 p.m. The Agent Zero Tour statement show will be held at 6 p.m. at the TriNoma Activity Center, where fans can meet Arenas personally. The Adidas Brotherhood is composed of Boston's Kevin Garnett, Chauncey Billups of Detroit, San Antonio's Tim Duncan, Dwight Howard of Orlando, and Houston's Tracy McGrady. Those who have bought their Gil Zero shoes will have the opportunity to have them autographed. Organizers said that fans can get the information regarding the autograph session at Adidas stores in Mall of Asia, Rockwell, and TriNoma. Also part of Arenas' visit is the turnover of a basketball court to the Gawad Kalinga community. - GMANews.TV
