MANILA, Philippines - Immigration Commissioner Marcelino Libanan sacked Thursday one of his security aides who allegedly beat up a radio reporter shortly before noon. Radio dzBB's Teresa Tavares reported that the aide, initially identified as one PO2 Gabon, was sent back to his mother unit at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Police Security Protection Office. Gabon allegedly beat up radio dzXL reporter Willie Delgado Jr, who at the time was following up a case with Libanan. Initial investigation showed that before the mauling incident, Delgado went to Libanan's office to follow up on a friend's case, but Gabon blocked him and told him to follow it up at the media bureau office. Delgado insisted on following up the matter with Libanan, until a lawyer from Libanan's office came out and attended to the radio reporter. But after the commissioner's staff attended to Delgado, Gabon and a barong-clad man allegedly blocked Delgado's path and beat him up. - GMANews.TV
