Probe on Isnaji's link to Sulu kidnapping to be held at Crame

MANILA, Philippines -The preliminary investigation on the alleged link of Indanan Mayor Alvarez Isnaji and his son Haider to the kidnapping of journalist Cecilia Victoria Oreña-Drilon and three others will be conducted in Camp Crame in Quezon City on Monday. Radio dzBB's Teresa Tavares on Saturday quoted state prosecutor Emilie Fe delos Santos as saying that conducting the probe at Camp Crame would minimize security risks. The Isnajis were supposed to be transported to the Department of Justice in Manila for the probe. Mayor Isnaji is a member of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF). Police, however, downplayed the chances of sympathy attacks by the MNLF, saying many of the group's members were irked at Isnaji's reported involvement in the Sulu kidnapping. Delos Santos did not say what time the preliminary investigation would be held. The Isnajis are detained at Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters in Camp Crame. Last Thursday, the PNP lodged a complaint against the Isnajis for the abduction Drilon, cameramen Jim Encarnacion and Angelo Valderama, and university professor Octavio Dinampo. On Friday, Interior Secretary Ronaldo Puno said that based on the evidence they gathered so far, Isnaji could be the mastermind of the kidnapping. Evidence also showed Isnaji pocketed P3 million out of the P5 million paid by Drilon's family. Isnaji and his son were initially "invited" to Camp Crame Wednesday for debriefing, but police eventually found enough basis to consider them suspects, and place them under arrest Thursday. - GMANews.TV
