UST declares 'no classes' in all levels Monday


MANILA, Philippines - The University of Santo Tomas announced that there will be no classes in all levels on Monday due to rains and floods caused by typhoon "Frank." "Frank" hit Metro Manila Sunday, bringing flashfloods and heavy rains. UST is located along España Boulevard in Sampaloc, one of Manila's flood-prone areas. Earlier, the Education department declared no classes for elementary and high school in Metro Manila and 12 other provinces. Education Secretary Jesli Lapus issued the following statement: "Based on Pagasa advisory, the following shall be observed tomorrow, Monday: "1. In general, suspension of classes shall continue to be governed by existing policies based on Storm Signal levels. "2. Considering risks of flooding and habagat, classes in grade school and high school will be suspended tomorrow in Metro Manila, Cavite, Rizal, Batangas, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, La Union, Benguet and Ilocos Norte. "3. Furthermore and depending on actual conditions in a locality, the local government and school authorities may exercise their discretion to suspend classes.
