KMU urges Pacquiao to donate money to typhoon victims
MANILA, Philippines - Militant labor group Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) has dared Filipino boxing champ Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao to donate at least some of his earnings from his bout this weekend to victims of typhoon "Frank." KMU spokesman Prestoline Suyat said Pacquiao is assured of at least $5 million from Golden Boy Promotions in his upcoming fight with David Diaz this Sunday (Manila time). "Pacquiao will get more pride and honor from the Filipino people if he would share to typhoon victims part of his income from the match," Suyat said in a statement on the KMU website. Suyat issued a similar challenge to Pacquiao's managers and sponsors, who he said stand to profit much from his fights. "Filipinos tend to ease their burdens and artificially escape their desperate situations when inspired by his successes and thrilled by his punches in the international ring. It would be better if there would be concrete economic relief for them," he added. - GMANews.TV
