Ships in predawn collision reach ports safely

MANILA, Philippines - The vessels that figured in a predawn collision off Camotes Island Saturday reached their respective destinations with no injuries reported, the Coast Guard said. Coast Guard Cebu station commander Elpidio Gunio said the MV “Wonderful Stars" of Robles Shipping reached the Ormoc port at 5:25 a.m. while the cargo ship MCC Sulu reached the Port of Cebu. There was no report of casualty or injury, Gunio said in an interview on dzRH. He said the MV Wonderful Stars was carrying about 600 people and crew, including 587 adults at the time of the accident. The passenger ship sustained "mild" hit on the left rear portion after the 9,000-ton MCC Sulu hit it at about 1:30 a.m. "Mild lang ang bangga sa kanila ... continuous ang sailing to Ormoc (The impact was minor, the passenger ship continued to sail to Ormoc City port in Leyte)," Gunio said. - GMANews.TV
