Pinoy coop offers computer literacy course in Jeddah

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia - Filipino workers in Saudi Arabia who want to improve their skills in MS Office applications can avail themselves of a computer literacy program that will begin on July 4. The course, which will run for eight consecutive Fridays, will be offered by the Overseas Filipino Workers Cooperative Council. This will be the 23rd time that the program will be offered by the OFWCC, a group of 117 cooperatives in Jeddah founded in 1996, and accredited by the Philippine Cooperative Development Authority in 2000. According to OFWCC chairman Fortunato Esguerra, the course is designed to provide beginners with basic computer operations such as “MS Windows Vista," “MS Word 2007," “MS Excel 2007," “MS Access 2007," “MS Adobe Photoshop CS2 (Image Editing)," and technical courses in Basic Computer Networking and PC Hardware Assembly. The course aims to equip overseas Filipino workers with knowledge in Microsoft applications that can be used in creating memos and reports, which require computations and analysis of figures using formulas and charts. The students will also be able to perform a wide array of office work such as preparation of impressive business presentation materials, communicating with electronic mail (emails) and basic understanding of the local area network (LAN) and worldwide area network (WAN). The course will also enable them to assemble, disassemble, and troubleshoot simple computer hardware. The seminar will be held on Fridays from 9 am to 5 pm at the Tropicana Restaurant along Tahlia St. corner Madinah Road. Registration will start at 8 am. For reservation, contact the following:
