3 dead goats, mysterious flying creatures stir village

KIDAPAWAN CITY, Philippines – A woman claimed to have seen two mysterious flying creatures on Tuesday night in a field in Barangay Manongol in this city, just a few days after her neighbors found the dismembered remains of three goats in an area nearby. Talk about the mysterious death of the three dead goats – which they found last Sunday – had hardly died down, when the mysterious sighting happened. The less superstitious residents thought the attackers were just some stray dogs. But others thought it might be the handiwork of a wak-wak, which is Cebuano for the Tagalog aswang, a much-feared creature that can change its appearance and prey on both animals and people. Then on Tuesday night, another scary incident happened about a hundred meters away from where residents found the dead goats. Lilibeth Cornello, a resident of Purok 2-A, was walking to her mother’s house, just adjacent to her own house, at about 6:30 p.m. when she heard flapping sounds overhead. When she looked up, she saw what she described as two gigantic birdlike creatures flying overhead. She ran as fast as she could while screaming: "Ma naay wak-wak, naay wak- wak!." Her yelling about the appearance of a wak-wak made her neighbors rush out of their houses. As they were nervously discussing the incident, they noticed the leaves and branches of a nearby mahogany tree shaking – which they found strange because it was a windless night. They looked up the tree but could not see anything because of the darkness. Then Nida Agamon cried out loud: "In the name of Jesus, palayo mga yawa! [Go away you devils]." Suddenly the residents watched in surprise as liquid, which looked like water, poured down from the tree and hit the rooftop of a shanty that the Agamon’s use as a kitchen. Then the movement from up the tree stopped. The residents summoned the barangay (village) watchmen manning a nearby outpost and reported the incident. Agamon told this reporter that before Cornello spotted the flying creatures, they had been hearing strange sounds earlier that night. "Tingog sa wak-wak among nadungog, kusog kaayu!" she said. Barangay officials refused to comment on the incident as they were still investigating it. - GMANews.TV
