Pacquiao eyes concert, telethon for 'Frank' victims
MANILA, Philippines - On returning home after winning his latest title, World Boxing Council lightweight champion Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao bared plans to hold a concert-telethon for victims of typhoon "Frank." The fundraising plan is on top of the P3 million he will donate to the victims of typhoon “Frank," said Pacquiao upon his arrival from the United States before dawn Friday. "Mag-telethon kami para sa mga gustong tumulong sa mga nasalanta ng bagyo. Pwede tumawag lang kung gusto. Isa na ako. Magbibigay kami, napagusapan namin ng misis ko, ng P3 million at magko-concert para sa biktima ng typhoon (We will hold a telethon for the victims so those who want to donate can do so. My wife and I also agreed to donate P3 million and hold a concert for them)," he said in a press conference at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2. He said details of the concert are now being worked out. Pacquiao also bared that US boxer David Diaz, who he beat for the lightweight crown last Sunday, talked with him on the phone before he took his flight for Manila. Meanwhile, he is still undecided on who to face next - UK-based Ricky Hatton or Edwin Valero of Venezuela. Pacquiao arrived in Manila shortly after 5 a.m. and motored to Makati City to rest. Later in the day, he will hear mass in Quaipo Church and then proceed to Malacañang for a courtesy call to President Arroyo. - GMANews.TV
