Da best ang Pinoy muwebles

Episode on July 10, 2008 Thursday night after Saksi This Thursday on 100% Pinoy, hosts Miriam Quiambao and Joaquin Valdes learn the reasons behind the global success of our furniture industry as they meet our world-renowned furniture designers and collectors! Cebu, known as the “Milan of Asia," boasts of the most creative minds in the furniture design industry. Miriam Quiambao flies to the Furniture Capital of the Philippines to meet world-renowned furniture designers, including Kenneth Cobonpue, whose creations were used in the Hollywood movie Ocean’s Thirteen.
Cobonpue usually works with indigenous materials such as rattan and bamboo and combines these with wrought iron, producing beautiful Asian-inspired furniture that wowed Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
Miriam also tours the Mehitabel, one of Cebu’s pioneering furniture company, known for its innovative use of rattan in its designs. She also meets Clayton Tugonan of the Movement 8, a group of furniture designers that promotes the use of indigenous materials found in the Philippines. Meanwhile, Joaquin Valdes meets the most avid furniture collectors in the country. Joaquin visits the house of former PCSO Chairman Manoling Morato who began collecting antiques since he was 30 years old. He also learns that reel and real life couple Paolo and Suzi Abrera are furniture enthusiasts. Joaquin visits the Abrera household and discovers that most of the family’s furniture are designs created by Paolo himself!
