Ricafort appointed as next CDC chief


Clark Freeport, Philippines – Malacañang has appointed Benny Ricafort as the next president and chief executive officer of the Clark Development Corp. (CDC), to replace Levy Laus who is set to leave the post on July 31. Edgardo Pamintuan, chair of the Subic-Clark Alliance for Development (SCAD) Council, confirmed Ricafort's appointment as CDC's 8th CDC president during a forum held at the Fontana Convention Center on Thursday. Ricafort is a banker and current director of the CDC. He joined CDC in 1993 as Board of Director, and was a former governor of the Philippine Jaycees, and a member of various groups including the Rotary Club, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Metro Angeles Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Pamintuan said President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo informed them of Ricafort's appointment during a closed-door meeting which was also attended by Rep. Carmelo Lazatin at the Presidential Mansion here Wednesday. Pamintuan said President Arroyo called the meeting after she inaugurated the Angeles University Foundation Medical Center's Doña Evangelina M. Macapagal Medical Tower in Angeles City. To recall, Laus - as early as May - submitted his resignation to President Arroyo effective July 31, citing his desire to go back to the private sector. - GMANews.TV
