Pag-endorso sa Lucida-DS binitiwan ni Legarda

MANILA – Pinapaalis na ni Senador Loren Legarda ang mga billboards na nagpapakita na iniindorso niya ang kontrobersyal na skin whitening product na Lucida-DS.

Sa isang pahayag nitong Miyerkules, inutusan ni Legarda ang mga nasa likod ng produkto na baklasin ang kanyang mga billboard sa loob ng isang araw.

Ang pahayag ni Legarda ay ginawa ilang araw matapos lumabas ang pagsusuri ng Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD) sa Lucida-DS na kulang umano sa taglay na glutathione batay sa nakasaad sa pakete.

Inutos ng BFAD sa importer at distributor ng Lucida-DS na bawiin o alisin sa merkado ang mga paketeng sinuri ng ahensya.

“As an advocate of consumer welfare and protection, I will not tolerate misrepresentation of facts by any importer, distributor or manufacturer of consumer products that tend to deceive the consumer," pagdiin ni Legarda.

Hiniling din ng senadora sa United Shelter Health Products, nasa likod ng Lucida-DS na ipaliwanag sa publiko ang resulta ng pagsusuri ng BFAD.

Samantala, inihayag ng mga opisyal ng distributor ng Lucida-DS at Vaniderm dietary supplement na posibleng nabahiran ng pulitika ang pagsusuri sa naturang produkto.

Ayon kay Ronald Raguero, presidente at CEO ng United Shelter Health Products, posibleng ang pagkakaroon ng endorser na pulitiko (Legarda) ang dahilan kaya pinag-initan ang kanilang produkto.

“Alam naman ninyo na isa sa mga endorsers namin ay politician. Baka yung galit kay senator o [yung] kalaban niya ay baka nagre-react dito kaya medyo iniipit kami," pahayag ni Raguero. - Fidel Jimenez, GMANews.TV
