Pacquiao arrives in typhoon ravaged Iloilo


MANILA, Philippines - World Boxing Council lightweight champion Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao arrived in Iloilo City early Thursday to visit residents badly hit by typhoon "Frank" there, and to distribute relief goods. DZBB Iloilo reported that Pacquiao arrived at the Iloilo airport, with city mayor Jerry Treñas and local officials welcoming him. He proceeded to the Jaro Cathedral to hear mass before proceeding to the city proper to distribute some P1.5 million worth of relief goods. Pacquiao was also due to visit Bacolod City later in the day to distribute relief goods to residents there and attend a parade in his honor. When he returned to the country last July 4, Pacquiao had promised to give P3 million to victims of typhoon "Frank." He also promised to run a telethon for the victims. - GMANews.TV
