2.5 tons of 'hot meat' seized in predawn QC raid

QUEZON CITY, Philippines - Authorities seized some 2.5 tons of "hot meat" from Bulacan while these were being unloaded at a market in Balintawak in Quezon City before dawn Thursday. Radio dzBB's Roland Bola reported that the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) conducted the raid after receiving a tip that the hot meat was to be brought there. But the team failed to arrest any meat dealer as workers managed to flee while the NMIS team seized the meat. Dr. Rolando Marquez of the NMIS cited initial information reaching him indicating that tons of hot meat came from Bulacan and were sold to unscrupulous traders. In turn, the traders would sell the meat at P90 to 95 a kilo. Marquez reiterated his appeal to consumers to check for the NMIS seal on the meat they buy. - GMANews.TV
