NDCC suspends elementary, HS classes in Metro Manila, 12 provinces


MANILA, Philippines - The National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) suspended Sunday night classes in the elementary and high school levels in Metro Manila and 12 other areas for Monday. Radio dzBB's Tuesday Niu reported that the suspension order was due to the monsoon rains enhanced by typhoon "Igme" (Fung-Wong). Covered by the class suspension order were Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, La Union, Benguet, Mountain Province, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Bulacan, Rizal and Cavite. The NDCC also instructed the Education Department to give presidents of schools and universities the discretion of suspending classes for Monday. It also advised fishermen in coastal areas not to leave shore because of rainy weather. - GMANews.TV
