Thousands affected as Cebu Pacific delays domestic flights at NAIA-3

MANILA, Philippines - Thousands of airline commuters were affected Monday when Cebu Pacific Airlines postponed some of its flights at the newly opened Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA-3). A statement from Cebu Pacific Airlines said the delay was due to bad weather, the extended maintenance of two of its aircrafts, and the operational adjustments of NAIA-3. “We sincerely apologized for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank our passengers for their patience and understanding," the airline said. Radio reports said the affected domestic flights were those coming from Manila to the cities of Cebu, Roxas, and Tacloban. Two flights to Cagayan province were also affected. The report said the delay lasted from five to 10 hours, irking many passengers. The incident prompted NAIA General Manager Alfonso Cusi to call for an emergency meeting with officials from Cebu Pacific. Aside from canceled Manila-Butuan and Manila-Naga flights, Cebu Pacific said flights in the afternoon might also be cancelled due to sunset limitations, Cebu Pacific said. It also said the airline is taking various measures to address the needs of affected passengers. - GMANews.TV
