Nurse posts surgery photos on Facebook, may lose job

STOCKHOLM, Sweden - A Swedish neurosurgeon at a Stockholm hospital says a nurse could lose her job after posting photos of surgeries on Facebook.

The chief of neurosurgery at Karolinska University Hospital says the woman added 14 photos from a brain surgery and a back operation to her Facebook account. The patients could not be identified from the photos.

Mikael Svensson calls the incident "deeply unfortunate" and says it violates the hospital's ethical code.

He says he started an inquiry Monday and brought the matter to the attention of the hospital's human resources department.

Svensson has also been in contact with the nurse, who is away on vacation, and he says she is devastated about the consequences of her actions. - AP
