Grenade recovered from Iligan City's business district


ILIGAN CITY, Philippines – Authorities recovered Saturday evening a fragmentation grenade from a commercial district in the city that was rocked recently by twin blasts. Iligan City police director Supt. Virgilio Ranes told GMANews.TV that the grenade was discovered by a passerby around 8 p.m. beside the Galaxy Commercial store and reported it immediately to police. He said his men have launched an investigation to identify the individual or group responsible for the incident. In a phone interview, Ranes appealed to residents to report to authorities any suspicious items or suspicious looking persons in their localities. Mayor Laurence Cruz implemented curfew hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. after the blasts recently at two lodging houses in the city. Ranes said that although the curfew has been lifted business district, the city remains under high alert. - GMANews.TV
