Eraserheads reunion concert has new sponsor

MANILA, Philippines - The much-awaited reunion concert of Filipino rock group Eraserheads will push through, this time with a new sponsor. In statement, Dave Gomez, public affairs and communications manager of Philip Morris Philippines Manufacturing Inc., said that Radiohead Media Solutions Inc. has taken over the responsibility as the new promoter of the gig scheduled on August 30 at the Global City Open Field in The Fort, Taguig City. Philip Morris had pulled out from the concert after the Department of Health (DOH) and other health advocate groups protested against their sponsorship. The DOH said Philip Morris and any tobacco firm, under the Republic Act 9211, also known as the Tobacco Regulation Act of 2003, are strictly prohibited from sponsoring any sports, cultural, and artistic events of individual or team athletes, artists and performers. With this, the DOH cited RA 9211 as their basis for taking legal actions against the firm should the company pursues to sponsor the event. Band drummer Raymund Marasigan said the turnover of sponsorship started Tuesday, and that Radiohead has already started working on the gig’s venue. With this development, the age limit for those who want to watch the concert has been changed from 18 years to 12. Tickets for the gig are priced at P800 and P1,300. - GMANews.TV
