AFP warns texters vs ‘MILF propaganda' messages

Email the Editor Print Share This
MANILA, Philippines - The Armed Forces of the Philippines appealed to mobile phone users Thursday not to spread what it branded as "propaganda" text messages from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.

Radio dzBB's Benjie Liwanag Jr. reported that AFP public information office head Lt. Col. Ernesto Torres Jr. made the appeal after receiving some "sample" text messages.

According to Torres, most of the messages claimed the MILF was "winning" in Mindanao, and that several soldiers were killed or wounded because of the government's "negligence."

Torres said the propaganda text messages are "obvious" because they contain a request to "please pass" it on.

He advised cell phone users not to waste their cell phone load and to delete such messages instead of passing them on. - GMANews.TV
