Blind man rescued after 6 days from capsized boat in river

MANILA, Philippines – A 51-year-old blind man survived six days just holding on to his capsized boat in the middle of a river in Patnanugan town in Quezon province last week, according to a radio dzRH report on Thursday. Gerardo Orgaya was on his way to visit his daughter on the other side of the river, in Barangay Busdak, when a big wave overturned his small boat. For six days, he held on, without food, surviving only on water, until fishermen found him and brought him to Barangay Sabang in Baler town, and then to the Aurora Memorial Hospital. Patnanungan is a fifth-class town with a population of 11,034 people in 2,161 households. - GMANews.TV
