MANILA, Philippines - Filipino WordPress enthusiasts met in Manila on Saturday in what has been dubbed as WordCamp Philippines, a gathering of bloggers, developers and WordPress advocates.

WordPress, one of the leading blogging platforms in the world, has a large user base in the Philippines, event organizers said.

"WordCamp is our venue for sharing, networking and learning more about WordPress, just like it is in many parts of the globe," said an announcement posted on the event's website.

The meeting, held at the College of St. Benilde in Manila, gathered speakers from among the bloggers themselves, information technology experts and members of the academe.

Among those who spoke during the meeting were Jayvee Fernandez, Gail Villanueva, Hans Koch, Markku Seguerra, Elymar Apao, Kring Elenzano, Karla Redor, Danilo Arao, Aileen Apolo, Regnard Raquedan, and Matt Mullenweg, the founding developer of WordPress. - GMANews.TV
