BI to deport convicted British pedophile

MANILA, Philippines - The Bureau of Immigration is set to deport a convicted British pedophile who is wanted in his country. Immigration Commissioner Mercelino Libanan identified the suspect as Kriss McCord, who has been convicted by a British magistrate for three counts of rape and four counts of indecent assault nine years ago. The Immigration commissioner said the suspect will be expelled back to his country pursuant to a summary deportation order the Board of Commissioners issued against him last February. "He had filed a motion for a reconsideration of deportation, but this was denied by the board thus paving the way for his deportation," Libanan said in a statement. Libanan said McCord will be banned from returning back to the country for being an undesirable alien. Immigration records showed that McCord was nabbed by joint operatives from the Bureau of Immigration and Philippine Center for Transnational Crimes in Llanera town in Nueva Ecija on December 2006. McCord, who is already overstaying in the country at the time of his arrest, presented a passport that later turned out to be spurious as it contained a fake Balikbayan and immigration arrival stamps. Interpol reports sent to local counterparts said that McCord has been sentenced by a court in Nottingham, England of a nine-year prison term on June 1999 for violations of UK's Sexual Offenses Act. He was later released on parole, but violated the conditions of his release by going abroad without notifying British authorities as required under the British law. After his arrest, McCord sought a petition for the writ of amparo before the appellate court, but was denied on the ground that he was already charged and ordered for deportation for violations of Philippine immigration laws. - GMANews.TV
