5 missing boat passengers rescued off Mindoro


MANILA, Philippines - All five missing passengers of the motor boat that capsized off Palawan last Friday were rescued Sunday morning off San Jose, Mindoro, a report said. Four employees of the National Power Corporation (Napocor) and the boat operator were reported missing after the motorized boat they were boarding capsized due to heavy rains. Armando Diaz, general services manager of Napocor, told GMANews.TV Sunday night that all the five passengers have been brought safe and sound to their homes through the efforts of the Philippine Navy's Western Command and Task Force Malampaya. He said that the pump boat "Red Robert" from Masbate spotted the five passengers clinging to the capsized boat and brought them to Linapacan, Palawan. Earlier reports said that the boat capsized between the islands of Manamoc and Nangalao. Those rescued were boat operator Rex Capangpangan and four Napocor employees: Jerry Castolo Henry Sumanting, Recto Magalona and Elmer Fabiano - GMANews.TV
