Capuchin installed new bishop of Ilagan

MANILA, Philippines - Capuchin bishop Joseph Amangi Nacua was formally installed last week as the new bishop of Ilagan, the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines said late Monday. A statement on the CBCP Web site (www.cbcpnews.com) said Apostolic Nuncio Edward Joseph Adams led the installation at the St. Ferdinand Cathedral in Ilagan, Isabela last Sept. 9. "The event deemed propitious not only for the diocese but for its neighboring ecclesial provinces was attended by bishops, priests and religious women of the diocese and neighboring archdioceses," the CBCP said. Laoag Bishop Sergio Utleg and Ilagan bishop emeritus delivered the homily, where he said the Diocese of Ilagan "was shown love and mercy by God by providing it with a father, a brother, a manager and a fountain of life for his people." Utleg reminded Bishop Nacua of five important elements to make his ministry successful. "Know your people and be mindful of your clergy, be holy, sow seeds, you'll have joy and agony, lose and find yourself," he advised Nacua. For his part, Adams said there are three essentials to one's Episcopal ministry, that of "being a model of Christian living, successor of Peter and bridge of love and one who unifies." Nacua expressed his gratitude to God for his new ministry as he assured his clergy and flock of his love and support. - GMANews.TV
