Newspaper ad seeks letter campaign to kill RH bill

MANILA, Philippines - After launching online campaigns and lobbying in the House of Representatives, pro-life groups are now using a letter-writing campaign to "kill" the reproductive health (RH) bill. Couples for Christ (CFC) placed a half-page ad Wednesday in the Philippine Daily Inquirer urging people to write their representatives to support moves to kill the bill before it “kills" the family. "We enjoin all Filipino families to prevent this bull from becoming a law. Write to your congressman," it said in its newspaper ad. It said people should ask their congressmen to kill House Bill 5043, "before it kills the Filipino family," and to have them cooperate instead in pro-poor projects. The group suggested that the congressmen partner with its affiliate Gawad Kalinga. "Let us all join hands in building a nation that honors God. The reproductive health bill 5043 is a killer. We need to save the Filipino Family from its lethal power," it said. Pro-life groups led by the Catholic Church had been vocal in their objections to the reproductive health bill, which is now undergoing plenary debates in the House of Representatives. - GMANews.TV
