PNP to deploy investigation vans in Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy mobile investigation vans in Metro Manila to speed up its work and improve its crime-solution efficiency. The project was formed under the concept of a small but mobile police station as it would receive complaints and conduct on-the-spot probe. "This will encourage the people to report crimes and on our part, it is a way of bringing the police closer to the people," Deputy Director General Jesus Versoza, newly appointed PNP chief, said on Tuesday. The investigation vans, the official said, will have forensics equipment and other investigation paraphernalia and will be manned by experienced investigators. Versoza did not give other details of the project. But he said the first van might launched next week. It will be manned by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG). Versoza expects the deployment of more vans in Metro Manila, since even the leadership of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) supports the move. He added that the PNP leadership will encourage other police units in Metro Manila to adopt the the program, particularly in crime-prone areas. - GMANews.TV
