Amok kills father and son in Shariff Kabunsuan

COTABATO CITY, Philippines – A man thought to be mentally disturbed hacked to death two of his neighbors before he was subdued in Shariff Kabunsuan province, police said on Wednesday. SPO2 Karis Talusan, an investigator, identified the suspect as Sandro Sirad, 45 years old, of barangay Ukab in Sultan Kudarat town. For no apparent reason and without provocation, Sirad took his bolo (machete) and started attacking his neighbors mid-afternoon on Tuesday, Talusan quoted witnesses as saying. Tao Bakang and his son Guianaid were killed on the spot while another son named Gapur lost his arm and is now confined at a private hospital. A neighbor shot Sirad to prevent him from causing further damage, Talusan said. Sirad was said to be a known friend of the Bakang family and was described by witnesses as a very quite and hardworking person. The attack happened a few hours before the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month during which devout Muslims all over the world fast at daytime. - GMANews.TV
