Dekada Cinemanila announces official selections for 'Digital Lokal'

MANILA, Philippines - Six films from acclaimed directors will compete for the prestigious Lino Brocka Award at Cinemanila’s Digital Lokal competition.
Included in the official list of films in competition are the following: "Imburnal" by Sherad Anthony Sanchez; "Next Attraction" by Raya Martin; "Ala Pobre Ala Suerte" by Briccio Santos; "Sisa" by CJ Andaluz; "Carnivore" by Ato Bautista; and "Ang Manghuhula" by Paolo Herras.
Past Lino Brocka awardees Aureaus Solito, Dante Mendoza and Raya Martin all gained international recognition. Solito’s winning entry, "Tuli," won Outstanding International Narrative Feature at the 2007 Outfest in Los Angeles and the NETPAC Award from the Berlin International Film Festival.
Dante Mendoza’s "Manoro," on the other hand, garnered a record seven nominations during the 30th Gawad Urian. Last year’s Brocka winner, Raya Martin’s "Autohystoria" bagged the Special Mention at the International Competition of the Marseille Film Festival.
Dekada Cinemanila will run from October 16-29 at Gateway Cineplex 1, Araneta Center, Quezon City. It is presented by the Independent Cinema Association of the Philippines, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the Film Development Council of the Philippines, and is supported by Gateway Cineplex 10, the Official Festival Venue, Philippine Airlines, Screen Australia and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
