MMDA to go after erring towing agencies - report

MANILA , Philippines – The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Sunday vowed that they will go after abusive tow truck operators. A radio report quoted MMDA Executive Director Angelito Vergel de Dios as saying that the towing agencies found to violate the MMDA’s Guidelines for Towing and Impounding will be removed of their accreditation and will be included in the MMDA’s black list. Vergel de Dios’ warning came after learning of complaints that certain towing agencies have not followed towing protocols and have instead harassed drivers of illegally-parked vehicles. Motorists whose vehicles were stalled likewise complained that some towing operators would offer help and then clamp their vehicles immediately to tow trucks to be taken to impounding area.
