Alleged NPA rebel killed in Quezon clash - report


MANILA, Philippines - A suspected communist rebel was killed following a clash with government troops in Quezon province Monday, a belated military report said Tuesday. The report said the clash occurred 6 a.m. at Sitio Pasalilo in Mabini village in the town of Mulanay, when elements of the Philippine Army's 74th Infantry Battalion chanced upon an undetermined number of New People's Army rebels in the area. The rebel fatality was identified only as a certain Joko. A caliber-38 revolver was recovered along with subversive documents. Armed Forces Southern Luzon Command spokesperson Capt. Leah Santiago said no troops were reported wounded nor killed in the incident. About 9 a.m. Monday, the cadaver was brought to a local funeral parlor for proper disposition. - GMANews.TV
