Turkish Airlines resumes Iraq flights after 17 yrs

ANKARA, Turkey - Turkish Airlines has restored flights to Baghdad that were suspended when the 1991 Gulf War broke out. The flight will run three times a week between Istanbul and Baghdad. A plane carrying business leaders, journalists and Turkey's ministers of foreign trade and transport left Sunday for Baghdad to attend a ceremony marking the restored service to the Iraqi capital. The foreign trade minister, Kursad Tuzmen, says the flights will help increase business between the two neighboring countries, and indicates security "is beginning to be restored" in Iraq. - AP b>
