7 killed as jeep plunges into ravine in Tagaytay


MANILA, Philippines - Seven people were killed while 18 others were injured Monday morning when the jeepney they were riding fell into a deep ravine in Tagaytay City, a television report said. QTV’s News on Q said two of the injured, Fernando Austria and Bonifacio Ortilla, were rushed to the Estrella Hospital in Silang, Cavite while the fatalities were brought to the Tagaytay Hospital. Killed in the accident were Fidel Tizon Arsiado, Christopher Tizon Narvaez, Gerardo Dimayuga, Rosita Dimayuga, Imelda Tizon, Margarita Llave Tizon, and Eufrociña Malabanan Tizon. The television report, quoting results of police investigation, said the jeepney was part of a convoy transporting a dead relative to Talisay, Batangas. The jeepney reportedly lost its break upon reaching a curve in Sungay West village in Tagaytay City and plunged into the ravine. A one-year-and-three-month-old infant, however, miraculously survived the accident. - GMANews.TV
