First Gentleman’s cardiologist now attending to Bolante

MANILA, Philippines - A cardiologist who worked with the team that performed heart surgery on the President’s husband Jose Miguel Arroyo last year is now attending to former agriculture undersecretary Jocelyn “Joc-Joc" Bolante. Radio dzBB's Manny Vargas also reported early Wednesday that security remained tight around the St. Luke's Medical Center in Quezon City where Bolante was placed under hospital arrest. The report said cardiologist Romeo Saavedra is now attending to Bolante, who reports had described as frail and aged, upon his arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Saavedra was part of the team that performed a heart surgery on Atty. Arroyo in April 2007. Meanwhile, the dzBB report said security remained tight at the SLMC, with a Quezon City Police District mobile car prowling on the portion of E. Rodriguez fronting the hospital entrance. Bolante was rushed to SLMC straight from the airport brought there late Tuesday night upon the request of Senate sergeant-at-arms Jose Balajadia Jr. Balajadia said Tuesday night his men decided to have Bolante brought to the hospital after seeing his physical condition. He also said he instructed his men to keep watch over Bolante while under "hospital arrest." - GMANews.TV
