Marijuana, firearms seized from suspected pusher in Negros

MANILA, Philippines - Police seized some 300 grams of marijuana and an unlicensed firearm from a suspected drug pusher in Sagay City in Negros Occidental Tuesday, an online news site reported.

A report on the Visayan Daily Star said that Sagay police director Supt. William Senoron identified the suspect as Jun-Jun Ga-ang a.k.a. Bon, 29.

Ga-ang was arrested in Paraiso village in Sagay City through an arrest warrant issued by Cadiz City Regional Trial Court Judge Renato Munez, for violation of the anti-drug act.

Also seized from him were dried marijuana leaves packed in a newspaper, with a market value estimated at P4,000; a snub-nosed cal-.38 revolver with ammunition, rolling paper, a glass tooter, P3,124 cash, and a Nokia 1600 cell phone.

One kilo of dried marijuana leaves costs P10,000.

Last month, policemen and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency uprooted nine marijuana plants in Murcia and Sipalay City, and arrested the cultivators. - GMANews.TV
