Caloocan announces traffic re-routing scheme for Nov 1, 2


MANILA, Philippines - With the All Saints' weekend just a day away, the Caloocan City government on Friday announced its traffic re-routing scheme to ease traffic flow especially on roads leading to the city's cemeteries. Caloocan Mayor Enrico Echiverri said that the traffic scheme will be effective November 1 and 2. As part of the city re-routing plan, Echiverri said the road leading to the Caloocan-Malabon boundary will be closed to traffic along with A. Mabini corner Gen. San Miguel, Bato streets to give visitors to ample access to go to the Sangadaan Public Cemetery. All vehicles coming from Letre Road and headed for Monumento are required to turn right to A. Mabini and left at A. Mabini, and left again to Torres Bugallon where they will have to alight and walk their way towards the Sangandaan Public Cemetery . Also, Cabatuan corner C-3 Road and Rizal Avenue , which leads to the city’s portion of the La Loma Public Cemetery, will be closed to traffic. All vehicles coming from Dagat-Dagatan, Caloocan and headed for Monumento are advised to turn right to Rizal Avenue while those headed for Manila coming from the Monumento Circle are advised to turn right in Fourth Avenue, Caloocan and left at D. Aquino St., and right at Second Avenue until they reach C. Name and Hermosa, to avoid the traffic build-up within the vicinity of the La Loma Public Cemetery and Chinese Cemetery. Echiverri also announced that roads and streets leading to Eternal Gardens in Balintawak will be closed to vehicular traffic this All Saints' weekend. These include the East Bagong Barrio, portion of Balintawak, Reparo and Baesa Roads. Also, vehicles will not be allowed to park inside the Sangadaan, Bagbaguin and Tala cemeteries. Echiverri said he has instructed Caloocan’s Reformed Department of Public Safety and Traffic Management (RDPSTM) to intensify its security and patrolling operations inside cemeteries and bus stations in the city with coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP). Over 408 uniformed policemen will be keeping watch over the city’s seven major cemeteries including the Sangadaan, Eternal Gardens, La Loma, Serenity, Bagbaguin, Forest Park and Tala cemeteries this Nov. 1 and 2. - GMANews.TV
