Revillame househelp, BF picked up for robbery

MANILA, Philippines - Policemen on Monday afternoon arrested two suspects in the burglary of TV host Willie Revillame’s house in Quezon City. One of the suspects was the victim’s housemaid. Revillame's househelp, Andresa Wenceslao, and her partner Danny Pacampang, were nabbed in Pasig City 10 hours after the robbery incident was reported, according to Superintendent Marcelino Pedrozo, deputy chief of the Quezon City Police District's Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU). Pedrozo said QCPD operatives were able to trace the suspects’ whereabouts through Revillame's other maid, Edna. Police said Revillame has two maids who take turns in attending to his residence in Corinthian Hills Subdivision in Ugong Norte village. "Si Willie na mismo, naniniwalang may kinalaman iyong katulong niya at iyong boyfriend nito (Willie himself thinks that his maid and the latter's boyfriend were the suspects)," Pedrozo said. The police official also quoted Revillame as saying only Pacampang, aside from the show host's two maids, have access to his two-storey residence. Pedrozo said the two arrested suspects both denied any involvement in the break-in. "Pero shift niya ngayon ah. Bakit hindi siya pumasok? (She's on duty today [Monday] but why didn't she report for work)," Pedrozo stressed. During police questioning, Edna told investigators she was off duty when the incident happened, which was between the mornings of November 1 and 2. Revillame was not in the house when the robbers struck. When Edna reported for work early Sunday morning, she apparently noticed that Revillame's bedroom was in disarray but paid little attention. Revillame only learned about the incident when he got back early Monday morning from a holiday vacation. He reported the incident at about 6 a.m. to the QCPD, which immediately launched a follow-up operation. Police said that the robbery suspects, who entered the home through a narrow bathroom window, carted away P3-million worth of wrist watches and a still undetermined amount of jewelry items. Investigators had earlier suspected the incident was an inside job, saying that the posh subdivision has tight security. "The subdivision's security was tight. Policemen like us were not even allowed to immediately enter. Security guards still had to get confirmation from the owner of the house we were visiting," Pedrozo said in Filipino. - GMANews.TV
