Survivor Philippines soars in Nov 7-10 ratings

PEP: Survivor Philippines outplayed all other primetime programs when it scored a back-to-back victory last Friday, November 7, and last night, November 10. According to the latest overnight ratings conducted by AGB Nielsen Philippines among Mega Manila households, Survivor Philippines—GMA-7's reality program hosted by Paolo Bediones—was the most-watched primetime program last November 7 and last night. Survivor Philippines posted a rating of 33.8 percent Friday and a whopping 36.8 percent last night. Survivor's 36.8 percent rating last night was its highest, so far, since the reality show's debut last September 15. Meanwhile, four other Kapuso shows—Gagambino, Codename: Asero, La Lola, and 24 Oras—maintained their second to fifth positions on both Friday and Monday. ABS-CBN primetime soap Iisa Pa Lamang, topbilled by Claudine Barretto, ended its run last Friday at No. 6 with 28.6 percent. It was followed by I Love Betty La Fea (28.1 percent), Bubble Gang (26.2 percent), Dyosa (25.3 percent), and TV Patrol World. All these shows, except for Bubble Gang, are from the Kapamilya network. Iisa Pa Lamang was replaced by ABS-CBN's new reality show Pinoy Fear Factor, hosted by Ryan Agoncillo. The Philippine franchise of the popular worldwide game show debuted last night, November 10, at No. 8 with 26.5 percent. Running for over an hour, Pinoy Fear Factor's pilot episode went up against three GMA-7 shows: the last part of Gagambino, the entire episode of La Lola, and the first few minutes of Survivor Philippines; all of which rated better that Ryan's reality show featuring 12 gorgeous participantes (contestants). Two other GMA-7 shows made it in the Top 10 last night: the Koreanovela My Husband's Woman (No. 6) and Richard Gomez's game show Family Feud (No. 10). The rest of the Top were occupied by the following ABS-CBN programs: I Love Betty La Fea (No. 7), TV Patrol World and Dyosa (tied at No. 9). NON-PRIMETIME. In the daytime race, GMA-7 soap Una Kang Naging Akin topped the list last Friday with 23.3 percent. Daisy Siete's 20th season titled "Tinderalla" was a close second place with 23.2 percent. Eat Bulaga! and the last episode of Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan tied for third place with an identical 22.9 percent rating. It was followed by the following ABS-CBN shows: Wowowee (17.9 percent), Pilipinas, Game KNB? (15.9 percent), and Pieta (15.8 percent). Occupying the rest of the Top 10 are GMA-7's Rosalinda, ABS-CBN's El Cuerpo del Deseo, GMA-7's SiS, and ABS-CBN's Boy & Kris. Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan's timeslot was occupied by the new GMA-7 afternoon soap Saan Darating ang Umaga?. Starring Yasmien Kurdi and Lani Mercado, this Sine Novela offering, debuted yesterday, November 10, at No. 1 with 22.3 percent. Saan Darating ang Umaga? was followed by Eat Bulaga! (21.8 percent), Una Kang Naging Akin (21.5 percent), Wowowee (17.1 percent), and Daisy Siete (16.9 percent) to complete the Top 5. WEEKEND RATINGS. GMA-7's Showbiz Central continues to dominate the battle of Sunday showbiz talk shows. This is despite some innovations made by rival program The Buzz of ABS-CBN, including the return of host Kris Aquino after the suspension of Cristy Fermin. Showbiz Central topped the daytime race last Sunday, November 9, after posting a rating of 19.8 percent; compared to The Buzz's 15.3 percent. The Buzz ranked fourth overall. GMA-7's drama anthology Dear Friend, hosted by Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin, came out strong with 18 percent, which is good for second place. Last Sunday's episode, the last part of a two-part episode, featured the loveteam of Jennylyn Mercado and Mark Herras. SOP, the Kapuso network's musical-variety show, ranked third by virtue of its 16.7 percent rating. SOP transferred to its new and bigger home, the Studio 7 of GMA Network Studios, last Sunday. ABS-CBN's musical-variety show ASAP '08 came in fifth place behind The Buzz with 15.2 percent. It was followed by Takeshi's Castle (14.6 percent), Your Song Presents My Only Hope (14.1 percent), and Matanglawin (11.6 percent). In the primetime race, Kap's Amazing Stories of GMA-7 finished at first place with 29.3 percent. It was followed by Kapuso shows Tok! Tok! Tok! Isang Milyon Pasok (26.9 percent) and Mel & Joey (26.1 percent), and ABS-CBN's Rated K (25.6 percent) and The Singing Bee (23.2 percent) to complete the Top 5. Occupying the rest of the Top 10 are ABS-CBN programs Goin' Bulilit (No. 6), Pinoy Fear Factor Primer (No. 7), and Sharon (No. 10); and GMA-7's All Star K (No. 8) and Ful Haus (No. 9). GMA-7's longest-running noontime show Eat Bulaga! retains its first-place position last Saturday, November 8, after generating a 25.3 percent rating. Cesar Montano's karaoke game show in ABS-CBN, The Singing Bee, came in second with 21.5 percent. The rest of the Top 5 were occupied by GMA-7's Pinoy Records (18.7 percent) and ABS-CBN's Wowowee (17.7 percent) and Cinema FPJ (16.1 percent). Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, a magazine show in GMA-7, topped the primetime race with 34.3 percent. It was closely followed by Mike Enriquez's Imbestigador, also a Kapuso show, with 34.1 percent. Bitoy's Funniest Videos, a GMA-7 gag show hosted by Michael V, took the third spot with 30.8 percent. The finals night of GMA-7's Celebrity Duets was in fourth place with 25.8 percent while ABS-CBN's longest-running drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya finished fifth with 23.3 percent.
