MANILA, Philippines - At least three of the “Euro-generals" have arrived at the Senate for the joint probe of two committees into the P6.9-million Moscow cash scandal, a radio report said.
Radio dzBB's Tuesday Niu identified three of the police officers who have entered the session hall as of 9:30 a.m. as Director Romeo Ricardo, directorate for plans; Director German Doria, directorate for human resources and doctrine development; and Superintendent Elmer Pellobello.
Senators, as well as former Philippine National Police (PNP) comptroller Eliseo de la Paz - who surfaced and was placed under Senate custody late Friday afternoon - were not yet in the session hall as of posting time.
A separate report by radio dzBB's Lito Laparan said the police officials arrived aboard two white Cruiser-like vehicles.
The Foreign Affairs committee chaired by Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago and the Blue Ribbon committee under Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano are set to begin the probe at 10 a.m.
The PNP went under fire after dela Paz, along with his wife Maria Fe, was held at the Moscow International Airport last month for carrying 105,000 euros (P6.9 million), which is more than the allowable amount, in "cash advances" for the PNP delegation to the 77th Interpol Assembly in St. Petersburg.
