Bomb prompts tightened security at Jolo airport


MANILA, Philippines - Security was tightened at the Jolo Airport Tuesday following the recovery of an improvised explosive device (IED) near the runway, a radio report said. Radio dzBB reported Wednesday that the military suspects the Abu Sayyaf Group’s urban terrorist unit left the explosive. Col. Eugenio Clemen, head of the 3rd Marine Brigade, cited initial information that two men aboard a motorcycle left the IED at the runway. While soldiers managed to safely detonate the IED, the incident prompted tighter security at the airport. - GMANews.TV
