San Juan PNP launches all-women mobile patrol

MANILA, Philippines - The San Juan City Police on Friday launched its "all-women mobile patrol" group that will monitor the security situation in malls in the city during the Christmas season. Radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen quoted San Juan City police chief Senior Supterintendent Procopio Lipana as saying he trusts that the team, made up of 8 women police officers, will ensure the safety of women and children who will flock malls during the holidays. The patrol group was launched at the Greenhills shopping center in San Juan City, said the report. Last November 21, the national police's Eastern Police District deployed plainclothes intelligence officers to the malls to detect criminals preying on shoppers during the busy holidays. Aside from the Greenhills shopping center, the eastern Metro Manila area hosts several large shopping complexes, including the SM Megamall and Starmall in Mandaluyong City and a host of commercial establishments in Pasay City. - Johanna Camille Sisante, GMANews.TV
