Actor charged over road mishap

Actor Ramon Christopher Gutierrez was charged Tuesday for a two-month-old traffic case which damaged a pickup truck and injured two persons.

The case - reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property - was filed by representatives of Euzkadi Holdings Corp. before the Quezon City prosecutor's office.

The case was filed on behalf of Ryan Jeffrey Son who said that he and his brother-in-law, Joey Howard, were hurt in the incident.

In his affidavit, Son said that in the early morning of June 20, he and Howard were on board a Euzkadi-registered Toyota Hilux when Gutierrez’ Chevrolet Venture crashed into their vehicle at the intersection of Scout Fernandez and Scout Torillo in Quezon City.

The Toyota Hilux was hit at the middle portion on its passenger side and turned turtle on impact.

Gutierrez’ vehicle was registered under the name of his mother, singer-actress Pilita Corrales.

Damage to Son’s vehicle was estimated at over P730,000.

After the incident, Son and Gutierrez went to the nearest police station to report the incident.

During the investigation conducted by the QC Traffic Enforcement Office, Son found out that Gutierrez was driving only with a Temporary Operator’s Permit (TOP) No. 7763784-0 since his driver’s license was confiscated on June 6 for over- speeding.

Son claimed the TOP clearly indicated that Gutierrez had admitted his previous violation of over speeding.

In addition, Son stressed that the earlier apprehension of Gutierrez clearly showed the actor’s propensity to violate traffic rules and regulations. -GMANews.TV
