Prices of bread to go down starting next week

MANILA, Philippines - Following the decrease in prices of bread ingredients, bakers will roll back prices by as much as P1 starting next week, a television report said Monday. A GMA Flash Report said prices of a 650-gram loaf of bread, which currently costs P43 pesos, will decrease by P0.50 to P1. Meanwhile, prices of pandesal, which currently costs P2 per piece, will not go down but bakers will increase the 35-gram bread's size by five to 10 grams. The report quoted Filipino-Chinese Bakers Association Inc president emeritus Henry Ah as saying the changes in bread price and size were brought about by decreased prices of flour, sugar, oil, and butter. - Johanna Camille Sisante, GMANews.TV
