PEP: KC Concepcion attends Clinton Global Initiative

Nasa Hong Kong ngayon si KC Concepcion para dumalo sa Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), na gaganapin sa December 2 and 3. Kaninang 10 a.m., December 1, umalis si KC at tinapos lang niya ang Artists Fair sa Mall of Asia kagabi. Ang objective ng CGI is "to promote innovative solutions to addressing hunger and malnutrition in Asia, especially children." Bagay si KC dito dahil siya ang UN World Food Programme Philippines National Ambassador Against Hunger mula pa noong February 2008. Maaalalang pumunta na si KC sa Pikit, Cotabato at Lanao del Sur para sa World Food Programme. Nakukuwento ng singer-actress kung paano siya naaapektuhan sa mga nakikitang bata na walang makain at kung meron may ay kulang. Kung siya lang ang masusunod at kung may power lang daw siya, ayaw niyang may nakikitang bata na nagugutom. Nang ma-interview ng ABS-CBN News si KC, ito ang kanyang pahayag: "I am very excited to participate in the first CGI in Asia on behalf of WFP, and to urge concerted action to address the challege of hunger and under-nutrition in Asia." Kasama ni KC na dumalo sa CGI si WFP Regional Director for Asia Tony Banburry. Mananawagan sila ng suporta "for nutritious food and life-saving support for children and vulnerable people particularly those affected by conflict and natural disaster." Kaugay nito, na-forward naman sa PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) ang text message ni KC sa manager niyang si Shirley Kuan pagdating niya sa Hong Kong. Sabi ni KC: "I am in Hong Kong! I just registered at the Clinton Global Initiative booth, and received my very own CGI ID. This is the very first CGI event outside the U.S. and I am so grateful to be able to participate here. I was able to take a sneak peek at the session hall which was still empty, but I'm sure, tomorrow it will be packed with all 400 participants! I got my red program book containing my schedule (designed for me by the UN WFP) and a welcome letter from Bill Clinton. Security seems to be really tough in the venue... "I saw a few rooms called ‘whisper rooms' where you can have personal meetings during our stay, and I begin to wonder who I'm going to meet and have the chance to speak with here. I'm really excited to join discussions, brainstorming sessions with so many different leaders here (young and old). Praise God for all there is to learn, see, and experience in the coming days!
