LTFRB temporarily lifts P10 add-on taxi fare – report

MANILA, Philippines – Following the series of oil price rollbacks, the Land Transportation and Franchising Board (LTFRB) on Wednesday ordered the temporary removal of taxis’ P10 add-on fare. Radio dzBB’s Mao dela Cruz reported that the provisional removal of the add-on rate will be effective December 15. The removal, however, will be reviewed again on Feb. 18, 2009. The report said the agreement was made during the LTFRB’s meeting with representatives from the transport sector. Fare rollbacks from public utilities and jeepneys and buses will likewise be discussed during the meeting. The report said that if fuel prices shoot up again, the LTFRB is not discounting the possibility of restoring the add-on fare. - Sophia Dedace, GMANews.TV
