Philippines bags 8 nominations in Asian TV Awards 2008

Now on its 13th year, ang Asian TV Awards 2008 ay gaganapin sa Hotel InterContinental, Middle Road, Singapore sa December 11. Fifty-four judges were selected from different TV networks all over the Asia- Pacific region. They reviewed the categories and eventually selected the winner in each category. Cecilia "Che-Che" Lazaro (The Probe Productions, ABS-CBN), Jessica Soho (VP for News, GMA-7), Laurenti Dyogi (VP Entertainment Division, ABS-CBN), at Nessa Valdellon (VP for Public Affairs, GMA-7). Ang Pilipinas ay nakakuha ng walong nominasyon sa mga kategoryang Best Comedy Programme (Camera Café at Bubble Gang), Best Children's Programme (Lovely Day), Best Game or Quiz Programme (All Star K! The One Million Videoke Challenge), Best Reality Programme (Reunion), Best Adaptation of an Existing Formats (Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus), at Best Comedy Performance by an Actor/Actress (Ogie Alcasid at Michael V). For the record, Michael V. has won the Best Comedy Performance by an Actor award thrice in a row (2004, 2005, at 2006) at taun-taon ay nominado siya sa naturang kategorya. There was a time he bested Comedy King Dolphy (John En Shirley) for the trophy. In 2004, GMA 7 was voted Terrestrial Broadcaster of the Year, beating other giant networks in the Asia-Pacific region, thus making it the only Philippine TV network that has won the distinction so far. Last year, ABS-CBN was nominated for the same category but lost to MediaCorp TV Singapore Pte Ltd. Ilang taon na ring namamayagpag ang GMA 7 at ABS-CBN sa public affairs, drama, at performance categories ng Asian TV Awards. Pero this year, tila naging mailap na makakuha ng nominasyon ang dalawang TV giants ng Pilipinas. Kapansin-pansin ding tila hirap ang ABS-CBN at GMA-7 against the other TV giants sa Asia-Pacific sa technical/creative category.
