Pray for Pacquiao victory, Arroyo asks Pinoys

MANILA, Philippines — On the eve of Filipino boxing champ Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao's "dream match" against Oscar dela Hoya, Malacañang asked Filipinos to pray for a Pacquiao victory on Sunday (Manila time). Presidential Management Staff (PMS) head Cerge Remonde said President Arroyo will also be watching the televised bout. "Ang mensahe ng ating pangulo ay magkaisa tayong sambayanang Pilipino to give prayers and moral support for the triumph and victory of Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas (The president's message is for us to unite and pray and give Manny prayers and moral support for his victory)," Remonde said on government-run dzRB radio. "The victory of Manny will be the victory of the Filipino people," he added. Remonde said Arroyo will likely find time to watch the televised bout of Pacquiao's bout. He said that during Pacquiao's last bout when Arroyo was abroad, she watched from the Los Angeles airport. "She has not missed any fight of Manny Pacquiao ... Medyo close si presidente at Manny, si Manny is very supportive of the president (The president and Manny are close and Manny is very supportive of the president)," he said. - GMANews.TV
